Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., is facing backlash for her comments siding with Hamas’ claims about a Gaza hospital explosion, despite U.S. and Israeli intelligence asserting it was caused by a rocket fired from Gaza. Tlaib made statements during a protest that were perceived as supporting Hamas’ version of events over the Biden administration’s. In response, Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, wrote a letter demanding her removal from future classified briefings related to Israel and its military operations, accusing her of spreading misinformation and being a Hamas sympathizer. Jackson contends that Tlaib’s participation in such briefings could endanger American and Israeli lives.
