A German man, identified as Thomas H., was arrested on suspicions of spying for Moscow and reportedly had access to highly sensitive military information. He was employed in a department responsible for procuring advanced electronic warfare systems for the German military.

Thomas H. had visited the Russian embassy multiple times, offering his cooperation. He is believed to have shared information about his work with the German military’s procurement agency, intending to pass it to Russian secret services.

The suspect had extensive access to the German military’s electronic capabilities, requiring stringent security checks. The technology he could access included systems for surveillance, disruption of radio systems, and advanced weapons.

Ties between Thomas H. and Germany’s far-right party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), have been reported. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, concerns about Russian spies in Germany have increased, leading to diplomatic tensions and expulsions between the two countries.
