Israel has trained a special unit of attack dogs for its IDF Oketz unit, preparing them to infiltrate the Hamas terror organization’s extensive tunnel network beneath Gaza, which includes booby traps and hidden entrances beneath civilian structures. These tunnels, which span 311 miles and serve various logistical and military purposes for Hamas, will be navigated by these canines that are capable of detecting explosives and engaging militants. The IDF has showcased the dogs in a training video but has not yet deployed them in active combat. This comes amid ongoing tensions and military actions following a significant attack on October 7, with Israel striking numerous targets in Gaza and stating a determined effort to decisively confront Hamas, while also refusing a ceasefire until specific conditions are met.
