MI6 chief, Sir Richard Moore, will address artificial intelligence (AI) implications for intelligence agencies in an upcoming speech in Prague. He maintains that AI will not outperform human spies, despite its growing potential.

Moore’s speech will also touch on issues like Russia’s involvement in Ukraine and their efforts to extend influence in Africa. The head of the Secret Intelligence Service emphasises the unique value of human agents in gathering intelligence.

Moore argues that AI, while beneficial in accessing open-source information, cannot replace human agents’ distinctive traits and abilities. Their contribution will only grow in significance despite advancements in AI technology.

In conclusion, Moore acknowledges the rapid development of AI and machines, which are far from just passive collectors of data. Yet, he affirms that the future of intelligence work will continue to rely on human tasks that machines cannot perform.
