Following the October 7 attack by Hamas, the U.S. swiftly mobilized warships and aircraft toward Israel in support, with two aircraft carriers and three Marine warships directed to the eastern Mediterranean. The buildup aims to deter further escalation in the region, especially from Hezbollah and Iran. Significant U.S. naval forces, including the USS Gerald R. Ford and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike groups, are positioned in and around the eastern Mediterranean. Additionally, the U.S. has expedited weapons shipments to Israel, including munitions for the Iron Dome system.
